Louie Psihoyos's "The Cove" has angered authorities in the Japanese coastal town of Taiji, where officials last year said they would consider suing the film-makers.

Psihoyos's film plays like a fast-paced thriller as it follows the film-makers trying to capture the dolphin slaughter on camera....

Countdown Special Comment on the Tea Parties and Race
From Countdown Feb. 15, 2010 Special Comment: Tea Parties And Race : I happen to be filling the few spare hours of this past week by re-watching my friend Ken Burns' Jazz Documentary and was literally pulling my shoes on to head over to the Hospital yesterday when it came to the story of the great Billie Holiday and the still-startling anti-lynching song "Strange Fruit." Not long ago, my father, who abandoned baseball because his team traded his favorite players (Yankees; Steve Souchock,...

Hitler's Green Killing Machine
Historians have either overlooked or forgotten that sweeping Nazi environmental laws, all signed by Hitler and considered to be his pet projects, preceded the racially charged Nuremberg Laws, reflecting the fact that Nazi Racism was rooted in ecology. The shocking climax of the infamous 1940 Nazi Documentary film entitled "The Eternal Jew" stunningly reveals a strong green rationalization based on Animal Rights for the looming destruction of the Jews. According to Nazi ideology, the so-called...

As part of a Documentary on death and dying that aired yesterday, Gosling reveals, while walking through a cemetery, that he once used a pillow to smother his lover, who was terminally ill from AIDS and in "terrible, terrible pain." In the late 1970s, small pockets of electronic artists including the Human League, Daniel Miller and Cabaret Volatire were inspired by Kraftwerk and JG Ballard and dreamt of the sound of the future against the backdrop of bleak, high-rise Britain. The crossover moment came in 1979 when Gary Numan's...

Ray Gosling has done the assisted suicide campaign no favours
I find it difficult to believe Ray Gosling , the veteran Documentary maker who claims to have suffocated a lover in Hospital in his final stages of dying from Aids. His story just doesn’t ring true – how he just asked the doctor to leave him alone with for a moment, how he then despatched his lover by suffocating him with a pillow (not easy), how there was no autopsy or investigation of the suspicious circumstances of the death. Gosling sounded like he was making bits of it up as...

Melissa Roddy: Charlie Wilson: I Come Not to Praise Him, But to Bury Him
Most Americans' image of Congressman Charles Nesbitt Wilson is based upon the book and/or movie, Charlie Wilson's War . According to both of these sources, when Congressman Wilson first became involved in crafting U.S. policy towards Afghanistan, he was living on $700 a week. The Documentary evidence paints a very different picture. We all know that it was blonde bombshell Joanne Herring (played by Julia Roberts in the film) who recruited Wilson to the "cause of the Afghans." However, it...

Added to the city's troubles was a startling lack of frozen precipitation, for which officials compensated by having over 5,000 cubic meters of snow airlifted by helicopter , requiring some 750 workers according to...
