Sean Penn Wants Reporters Jailed for Calling Chavez 'Dictator'
xxxx First Amendment be damned . . . If Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn had his way, any journalist who called Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez a dictator would quickly find himself behind bars.   Penn, appearing on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" on Friday, defended Chavez during a segment in which he detailed his work with the JP Haitian Relief Organization, which he co-founded.   "Every day, this elected leader is called a dictator here, and we just accept it, and accept it" said...

Well, Hugo Chavez is a dictator, but I guess truth isn’t a defense when you’re talking about one of Penn’s heroes. First Amendment be damned . . . Liberal Fascism Alert: Sean Penn Edition -- By: Kevin D. Williamson
I note that an earlier subtitle of Jonah's book referenced "the totalitarian temptation ...." Sean Penn is feeling the temptation : First Amendment be damned . . .   The Kool-Aid is strong in this one, Lord Obama... At the end of a discussion of Haiti on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, actor Sean Penn went on a rant in defense of Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez, suggesting Prison time for American journalists: "every day, this elected leader is called a dictator here, and we just accept it! And accept it. And this is mainstream media, who should " truly, there should be a bar by which one goes to Prison for these kinds of lies." This is a...

Sean Penn: Journalists Who Criticize Hugo Chavez Should be Jailed
Sean Penn was interviewed by Bill Maher about Haiti. Maher asked him about his friend Hugo Chavez. Penn rambled about the great things Chavez have done for the 80% who have no dreams, he didn’t make a whole lot of sense, but it’s clear what he wants to happen to those who criticize Hugo Chavez. Penn: The collaborative opportunity in Haiti, when you talk about Hugo Chavez, and some of the other people who are demonized [think Castro], and you know, when some of these countries accuse...

Seems to me that Sean Penn has been taking lessons from his hero, Hugo Chavez. Because every day, this elected leader is called a dictator here, and we just accept it! And accept it. And this is mainstream media, who should

Janet Porter prays for control of the media, Sean Penn calls for their arrest
As a devout culture-war-pacifist, I find bits like this somewhat frightening. On the other hand, Sean Penn's call to put journalists who critique Venezuelan Macho-Dictator-for-life, Hugo Chavez, in jail is equally scary.  Said Penn: Because every day, this elected leader [Chavez] is called a dictator here, and we just accept it! And accept it. And this is mainstream media, who should " truly, there should be a bar by which one goes to Prison for these kinds of lies. And the culture...
