Todd Palin's Snowmobile Team Tied to "Dictator" Hugo Chavez
Guest-Posted by TLW3 While Sarah Palin spent plenty of time denouncing Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, as a dictator and called for Energy Independence, Todd Palin’s snowmobile team is sponsored by a division of CITGO , part of Venezuela’s state-owned oil and gas company. Todd Palin’s Iron Dog snowmobile team competed this year under a sponsorship from Mystik Lubricants, which was founded in Texas in 1922 but now resides under the Citgo corporate banner. “Mystik...

As a vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin condemned Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez as a "dictator" and called for "Energy Independence ... to allow us to be less and less reliant on someone like Hugo Chavez."
Venezuela, one of the top suppliers of oil to the United States , "wanted to use Energy sources as a weapon" under Chavez, she said.
But Palin's anti-Venezuela sentiments do not appear to extend to her...
Sean Penn: Journalists Who Criticize Hugo Chavez Should be Jailed
Sean Penn was interviewed by Bill Maher about Haiti. Maher asked him about his friend Hugo Chavez. Penn rambled about the great things Chavez have done for the 80% who have no dreams, he didn’t make a whole lot of sense, but it’s clear what he wants to happen to those who criticize Hugo Chavez.
Penn: The collaborative opportunity in Haiti, when you talk about Hugo Chavez, and some of the other people who are demonized [think Castro], and you know, when some of these countries accuse...

Sean Penn Says Reporter Should Go To Jail For Calling Hugo Chavez A Dictator
Well, Hugo Chavez is a dictator, but I guess truth isn’t a defense when you’re talking about one of Penn’s heroes.
First Amendment be damned . . . If Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn had his way, any journalist who called Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez a dictator would quickly find himself behind bars.

Hugo Chavez: South America's Own 'Qaddafi' " El Tiempo, Colombia
How dangerous is Venezuela President Hugo Chavez? Some people consider him the greatest danger to the Western Hemisphere, while others see him as nothing more than an amusing baffoon with a wad of oil cash.
According to columnist Juan Carlos Martinez of Colombia’s El Tiempo newspaper , Chavez is as dangerous as Libyan dictator Mohamar Qaddafi was before he mended his ways.
Martinez writes that the recent indictment against Chavez by Spain’s high court, which alleges that the...

Janet Porter prays for control of the media, Sean Penn calls for their arrest
As a devout culture-war-pacifist, I find bits like this somewhat frightening.
On the other hand, Sean Penn's call to put journalists who critique Venezuelan Macho-Dictator-for-life, Hugo Chavez, in jail is equally scary. Said Penn:
Because every day, this elected leader [Chavez] is called a dictator here, and we just accept it! And accept it. And this is mainstream media, who should " truly, there should be a bar by which one goes to Prison for these kinds of lies.
And the culture...

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - Former Honduran President Manuel Zelaya plans to write a book describing his ouster last year.
Zelaya says Honduras’ business elite was behind last June’s Military-backed coup that sent him into exile.
In a television interview broadcast in Venezuela, Zelaya said the business leaders feared he planned to copy President Hugo Chavez’s socialist policies and some were upset over his decision to seize control of fuel terminals used by store imported...
Chavez trusts God and nature in power crisis
CARACAS
(Reuters) - President Hugo Chavez is confident that God and nature will pull Venezuela out of a power crisis battering both the economy and his popularity.
World | Green Business
Rationing and blackouts have afflicted the South American oil exporter since late 2009, due mainly to a drought that has cut water levels at hydroelectric installations normally supplying more than two-thirds of power needs.
The crisis may cause a second year of economic contraction in...

Warehouses belonging to Venezuela's largest food producer targeted for expropriation
CARACAS, Venezuela
— Allies of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez have cleared the way for the expropriation of warehouses owned by the country's largest food producer.
Pro-Chavez councilmen in the city of Barquisimeto declared Wednesday that the warehouses belonging to Empresas Polar are of "public and social utility."
The designation paves the way for the government to take over the facilities, located on the outskirts of the city.

Sean Penn Wants Jail Time for Journalists Who Claim Hugo Chávez Is a Dictator
Hugo Chávez is a dictator! Come and put us behind bars, Sean Penn!
You know a favorite pastime of dictators? Imprisoning journalists. So it's a little strange and totally stupid that self-important actor Sean Penn is defending his friend Chávez, president of Venezuela and a known dictator, by suggesting that any American journalist who calls him a dictator should wind up behind bars.
"Every day, this elected leader is called a dictator here, and we just accept it and accept it. And this is...
Quote of the Day: Free speech edition
Hollywood provides the grist for today’s bit of outrageous verbiage in the words of Sean Penn (I know, I know, shocka). He’s upset about how his buddy and virtual dictator of Venezuela is being treated here he’s ready to jail everyone who speaks out against him. Talking on Bill Maher’s show he said:
Because every day, this elected leader is called a dictator here, and we just accept it! And accept it. And this is mainstream media, who should " truly, there should be...
